Biography
Overview:
Hakan leads the Tax practice in Turkey. His practice involves a wide range of tax service to corporate and financial transactions, tax advice for capital market transactions, real estate and individual taxation. Hakan works on tax litigation and disputes resolution with the tax authorities. His practice includes financial aspects of the commercial law and code of obligations. Hakan received his sworn financial advisor (YMM) license in May 2010 and he holds an Independent Audit License from Public Oversight Institution.
Prior to joining the firm, he worked as an independent auditor for 3 years and worked as tax advisor for 14 years in one of the big fours. During 1999-2005, Hakan was seconded to the BP tax outsourcing project where he led the tax outsourcing team which performed tax compliance, tax advisory, tax reporting and all other tax works of the BP Turkey group. Hakan worked for numerous companies in the energy, finance, marine, production and other sectors. Hakan has extensive experience advising on company structures, tax modelling, bilateral tax treaties, foreign investments, litigation, special consumption taxation, tax reporting and tax auditing and has carried out tax due diligences for major companies.
